I'm Rei, Rei Hino. I've never been attracted to men, but I'm also indifferent to women. My grandfather would be happy if I married but he knows that my duty as Miko at Hikawa Shrine is more important.
I often see Minako. She comes to visit me as frequently as she can. We're both 18. I have the feeling that something is growing between us. Friendship? No, this is stronger. Love? No, I'm not in love with her. She probably isn't in love with me. Yet there's something between us.
One day, I asked her about it.
"You're right. There is something strong between us but it's not friendship or romance."
"I don't know what it is."
"Do you want us to stop seeing each other?"
"NO! Minako, I love y... no, I love what we have. Our relationship. Whatever it's called, I don't want to lose it."
"I don't want to lose you either, Rei."
She hugs me and I don't stop her.
When Minako comes back to visit, I have a present for her. Identical bracelets. Minako is so happy. We've worn them ever since. I'm happy and serene.
